Community invited to name METRONET gantry cranes

Community membersfrom Victoria Park through to Beckenham are invited to help name thecustom-built gantry cranes that will build the elevated rail for the METRONETVictoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project.

Open to anyone wholives, studies or works in the project area, the naming competition providesthe community with the opportunity to get involved in this transformationalproject.

Everyone who entersa pair of names goes into the draw to win one-of-five family tickets to thePerth Royal Show.

A colouring incompetition being offered to local students also provides another chance to getinvolved and win a prize.

Tasked with liftingthe beams and concrete structures into place along the elevated rail, eachgantry crane can lift 120 tonnes.

A pair is requiredto operate together for the project's maximum lift of 140 tonnes.

These four-wheelgiants are designed to minimise the project's footprint and help retain more trees and vegetationalong the rail corridor.
