2023 EPCOT Festival of Arts Food Booth Menus & Figment Fun!

Apr 03, 2024Apr 03, 2024

Walt Disney World has released food booth menus for the 2023 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, our favorite event of the year! This post previews new & returning savory snacks and decadent desserts, along with a look at all things Figment that’ll be returning or debuting during Artful EPCOT.

For starters, the 2023 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts runs from January 13 through February 20, 2023. The Food Studios are all located throughout the World Showcase pavilions and portions of the new neighborhoods of Future World, just like the Holiday Kitchens and Global Marketplaces before them.

Like its Christmas-time counterpart, the 2023 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts uses a smaller slate of food booths than the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, which the park’s “flagship” fall foodie event. However, it’s actually a good thing for guests that the 2023 EPCOT Festival of Arts doesn’t focus as much on food.

For one thing, the decreased emphasis on the culinary arts allows other things to shine at the 2023 EPCOT Festival of the Arts. As we’ve pointed out time and time again, food is the least important element of the festival. We want to underscore this up front: buying food is not essential to enjoying the 2023 EPCOT Festival of the Arts. Sure, food is great and snacking around these booths is fun. However, prices border on obscene and portions are small.

Moreover, there’s so much substance to this event beyond food…and it is totally FREE! You can watch artists create art right in front of you, peruse booths and galleries, attend free seminars, participate in the creation of art, and so much more. Festival of the Arts is great in spite of the food, not because of it. If you’re interested in knowing what not to miss in terms of non-food offerings, read our Guide to the 2023 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts.

The other “lowkey” reason why it’s a net positive that cuisine is not cornerstone to the 2023 EPCOT Festival of the Arts is because it relieves pressure on the Food Studios. Lines are shorter and there’s less demand than at Food & Wine, so the booth menus can be a bit more ambitious and artful with their presentation. Food & Wine Festival is a bit like event catering but with its own twists–efficiency and ease are paramount to get through backlogs of guests.

Admittedly, this is less true with EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts with each passing year. Last year, many lines got pretty bad (even outside of Figment), particularly on peak weekends. Still, you’ll see dozens of items on the menus and food photos below that have beautiful presentation and exceptional attention to detail. The same ambitious dishes simply wouldn’t be possible during the more popular Food & Wine Festival, ironically enough.

On that note, let’s take a look at the food & drink menus for the 15 Food Studios that showcase the best in culinary art, blending colorful ingredients, unique cooking techniques, and imaginative presentations to create edible masterpieces…

Finally, guess who’s back? FIGMENT’S BAAAACK. The 2023 EPCOT Festival of the Arts is getting more imaginative, with Figment’s Inspiration Station at the Odyssey: Art, Food, and Little Sparks of Magic. Not only that, but you can bring home Figment with the brand-new Fruity Fig Bar Figment Disney Munchling. This limited-edition Disney Munchling features the sweet smell of berries and can be found both at the merchandise locations at the festival and on shopDisney.

Additionally, the Figment Premium Popcorn Bucket makes its return, but this year with a new EPCOT 40th Anniversary strap. Last year, Festival of the Arts was dominated by headlines that EPCOT’s Longest Line Is For Figment Popcorn Buckets. It took a while, but Walt Disney World eventually solved that problem by streamlining the process with Mobile Order. It’ll be interesting to see if that simple fix returns at the outset of the 2023 EPCOT Festival of the Arts, or if Disney wants the lines and accompanying headlines.

As much as I love Figment, I’m admittedly a bit disappointed. Part of that is probably my complete disinterest in Munchkins. I know those things are super popular, but I don’t get the hype. (To each their own on that–no judgment from me!) I wish there were a new Figment sipper or a different popcorn bucket design.

While those things also don’t do a ton for me, personally, at least they have a wider resonance in the fan community. It was really cool to walk around EPCOT last January and February and see a high percentage of guests carrying a Figment popcorn bucket or two (but not 5 or more–the eBay pirates are very uncool!). I could be wrong, but I don’t think the same popcorn bucket but with a different strap is going to hit the same.

Will you be buying the Figment popcorn bucket with the new EPCOT 40th Anniversary strap? If so, do you already have one or not? Think the line for that will once again be multiple hours long, or will Walt Disney World bring back the streamlined Mobile Order process? Do you have any favorite savory snacks or decadent desserts from the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts? Any least favorite items? Do you think the food is worth the high price tags given the attention to detail, or is it all still overpriced? What are you looking forward to trying at the Food Studio booths? Any questions? Hearing from you is half the fun, so please share your thoughts in the comments!

Why is it that what is actually being served is plated completely different than what is in these promo pics?? If it’s too complicated to put together, then don’t advertise it that way! I get that they do these en masse, but it’s very misleading on Disney’s part. I am loving all the figment merch though, much cooler than what has been at Flower and Garden and Food and Wine recently!

Best festival-HANDS DOWN! I love the food, but it is so pleasurable to grab a bite and stroll around the art! Food and Wine is just too much for me. I’ve been going since it started and I just don’t enjoy it anymore. I’d rather have less food and something to do while you eat that food. I just hate that 1) they keep moving it up the calendar (a few years ago it ended in April!) and that it is so darn short!

I’m actually glad they’re bringing back essentially the same popcorn bucket. I really wanted one last year, but I wasn’t able to go to the Festival until long after they’d sold out. I opted not to sell my soul to the devil and search for one from a reseller because I’ve been hoping this whole time that this would be Orange Bird sipper 2.0 and that they’d make this a festival staple. Looks like that’s their plan! This gives those of us who missed out last year a shot, and I really hope you’re right that the hype won’t be as crazy this year since it’s a re-release (although the salivating on Distwitter over the Epcot 40 strap does make me worried that we’ll have to wait for year 3 before the long lines and sellouts really go away).

Hi Tom ,Wondering if the Art Food Festival has the Tasting Passport like California Adventure does for Festival of Holidays ???

I’m no fan of Munchlings…but a Figment Fig Newton is so brilliantly stupid that I’ll probably buy that one. I would believe that it’s the first one they thought of and have been biding their time until this moment when they could finally make it.

Yes. Exactly what you said. haha

The Frozen French Martini is one of my faves. So very delicious. We’ll be there the 3rd week of January and are excited about the Art Festival.

Skittles cake?! Wait til my 8 year old sees that! Lol.
